The Carter County Quilts for Veterans held two ceremonies the Sunday after Veterans Day at the First Church Of Christ in Grayson. The following U.S. Military Veterans were honored and included in the program; Army Veterans, Mitchell Blevins, Roy Henderson, John Jenkins, Walter Limings, Tony Marshall, Carmel Middleton, Bill Rice, Lonnie Tackett, Donald Eugene Aukerman, Estill Bailey, George Griffith, Woodrow Hamilton, Billy J. Lemaster, Billy G. McCoy, Bob Newman, and Tom Womack; U.S. Air Force Veterans, Charles Walker and Wade Wilburn; KY Army National Guard, Martin V. Boggs and William Callihan.
President Johnda Berry welcomed the Veterans and their families to the ceremony and led everyone in the Pledge of Allegiance. Christ’s Trio sang a medley of patriotic songs. The group is made up of Debbie Hale, Greta Hensley, and Joe Brainard.
Vice-president and founder of the CCQFV, Sheila Flaugher Binion, delivered the remarks, which included a heartfelt thank-you to the Veterans and a standing ovation to show appreciation for the veterans’ service.
The beautiful Quilts of Valor were presented to the Veterans in attendance on behalf of the national organization, Quilts of Valor Foundation.
President Johnda Berry gave the closing remarks and led the attendees in prayer.
