The Carter County Public Library is delighted to partner with EKY Mutual Aid to present the 606 Really Free Yard Sale on Saturday, July 31, at the library’s Olive Hill location at 120 Comet Drive.
EKY Mutual Aid is a grassroots group that has worked hard to connect folks in need with necessary resources and funds to keep our community members healthy and safe. The 606 Really Free Yard Sale will provide clothing, school supplies, books, household items, hygiene products and more, completely free to anyone who needs them.
The interim director of the Carter County Public Library, Matthew Parsons, will be preparing and serving free pulled pork sandwiches for the first 50 visitors, with pork generously provided by Smithfield Meats.
The library is accepting donations of all sorts, from now until the day of the event, to be given out during the sale. These donations can be, as listed above, clothes, school supplies, household items, non-perishable food and more. There is a great need for hygiene products, in particular, such as shampoo, deodorant, soap, toothbrushes, hairbrushes, feminine products, etc.
The library asks our community at large to pitch in whatever you can to help provide these vital items to any of our neighbors who might need them. We really are all stronger when we come together as a community to raise each other up.
The 606 Really Free Yard Sale will be hosted in the Carter County Arts and Education Center Gym on Comet Drive, in the old Olive Hill high school. The sale begins at 11 a.m. and will last until 4 p.m., or until supplies run out. If you would like to make a donation or have any questions regarding the sale or the library, please contact Matthew Parsons at email@example.com.
Please note that both the Olive Hill location and the Grayson branch of the library will be closed temporarily, from July 19 through July 23, for professional development, maintenance, and hiring.
