Bessie Jo Boggs Evans

1949-2020

Mrs. Bessie Jo Boggs Evans, age 71, of Greasy Creek in Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Sunday, December 13, 2020, at her home surrounded by her loving family.

She was born October 15, 1949, in Carter County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson and Enid Johnson Boggs.

Bessie was a member of the Bowen Chapel Church and she worked for the Carter County Board of Education as a bus monitor and for the Olive Hill Finishing Company. She had a great sense of humor and enjoyed going to church, having family outings and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Jennette Duncan and Delorus Ann Boggs.

Bessie is survived by her husband of 49 years, Grady Evans; one son, Brady Evans (Lisa) of Olive Hill, Kentucky; three grandchildren, Pepper Evans, James David Hall III, and Brandi Fawn Hall; two brothers, Glennis Boggs (Janice) of Owingsville, Kentucky, James Boggs (Lisa) of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two sisters, Judy Gabbard (Lawton “Bub”) of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Beverly Lambert (Raymond) of Carter City, Kentucky; and two special sister-in-laws, Susie Fultz of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Shirley Evans of Mansfield, Ohio. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 19, 2020, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Joe Kadlec and Brother Clyde Holbrook officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, December 18, 2020, and after 9 a.m. on Saturday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.

Lawton Gabbard III, Thomas Ray Lambert, Jeffery Boggs, Zackary Boggs, Christian Cole, Brent Fultz and Jody Barker will serve as pallbearers. Bo Evans, Danny Carroll, Bunny Duncan, Don Michael Evans and Steven Cole will serve as honorary pallbearers.

Due to COVID-19 regulations, we ask that everyone wear a mask and practice social distancing.
