Mrs. Darlene Johnson Cox, age 79, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday evening, May 24, 2021, at her residence.
She was born August 10, 1941, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a daughter of the late Estill and Angie Francis Johnson.
Darlene was a member of Ross Chapel Christian Holiness Church and she enjoyed going to church, helping take care of people, working in flowers, gardening, cooking and spending time with her family.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother, Ell dee Johnson, and two sisters, Faye Sparks and Betty Richmond.
Darlene is survived by her husband of 60 years, Walter “W. J.” Cox; one son, Walter Jason Cox Jr. (Jessica) of Clay City, Kentucky; two daughters, Beverly Joanne Minor (Jerry) of Olive Hill, Kentucky, and Deborah Renee Steadman (Douglas) of Hitchins, Kentucky; seven grandchildren; four great grandchildren; and three sisters, Loretta Stemple (Joe) and Phyllis Arnett (Howard), all of Georgia, and Janice Buffington of Springfield, Ohio. She also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 28, 2021, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother John Lands and Brother Terry Dean officiating. Interment will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery, in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday, May 27, 2021, and after 9 a.m. on Friday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
