Mrs. Sonja Gay Bledsoe Kiser, age 66, of Grahn, Kentucky, passed away Saturday, November 5, 2022 at her residence, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Thursday, June 28, 1956 in Boyd County, Kentucky, to the late Everett Elwood and Jearlean Bailey Bledsoe.
Sonja was a member of the Kirk Memorial Baptist Church in Grahn, Kentucky and retired from Carter County Board of Education after twenty seven and a half years of service where she taught art. She enjoyed painting, sewing and was a trained wire jewelry artist. She loved spending time with her grandsons and taking care of her cats.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by one granddaughter, Bryleigh Jade Kiser.
Sonja is survived by her husband of 41 years, Larry Kiser; one son, Derrick Kiser and his wife, Erica of Grahn, Kentucky; two grandsons, Palmer Kiser and Cameron Kiser; one brother Hal Bledsoe and his wife, Karen of Grahn, Kentucky; one sister, Rita Bledsoe of Grahn, Kentucky along with many other family members and friends who will sadly miss her.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Wednesday, November 9, 2022 at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Don Bailey and Brother Roger Cline officiating. Burial will follow in the Carroll Cemetery on Rattlesnake Ridge in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2022 and after 9 a.m. until the service hour on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at Globe Funeral Chapel Kentucky, 17277 West Highway US 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.
Hal Bledsoe, Derrick Kiser, Andrew Bledsoe, Chris Bledsoe, Ethan Bledsoe, Ben Harmon will serve as pallbearers.
Estill Bailey will serve as honorary pallbearer.
