Mr. Earl Theodore Henderson, Jr., age 72, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday, November 22, 2021 at his residence.
He was born August 19, 1948 to the late Theodore and Opal Bond Henderson.
Earl served his country in the United States Army, 9th Infantry Division. Then served with the National Guards. He served the Olive Hill Police Department, Service Officer of the American Legion Post 138, served as a board member of the Carter County Board of Education, retired from CSX Racelend Railroad, Town and County Taxi and was owner of Cindy’s Skating Rank. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, being a mechanic and spending time with his family and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Earl is preceded in death by one brother, Carl Henderson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 36 years, Cindy Newell Henderson, one son Toby Henderson of Grayson, Kentucky, two daughters Sherry (Nathan) Downing of South Shore, Kentucky and Sheana (Chris) Barker of Olive Hill, Kentucky. Fourteen grandchildren and ten great grandchildren, one sister, Carol Garvin of Olive Hill, Kentucky. Earl leaves behind his brothers of the 9th Infantry Division and his two special pets Rocky and Lucy and a host of many other family members and friends who sadly mourn his passing.
Funeral service will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, November 24, 2021 at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Chris Barker and Brother Tom Rose officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Gardens, Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit Tuesday, November 23, 2021 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. at the Globe Funeral Chapel, Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Military Honors will be conducted at the graveside by the American Legion Post 138.
Nathan Downing, Chris Barker, Monte Rivers, Tayten Barker, Bradley Henderson and Joshua Garvin will serve as Pallbearers. Jim Newell and Jeff Newell will serve as Honorary Pallbearers.
