East Carter High School student musicians receive superior ratings at recent competition

ECHS Band to present spring concert

The East Carter High School and Middle School Band under the direction of Mr. Logan Skidmore were awarded high praises for their performances at the Large Ensemble Performance Assessment held at Morehead State University on April 13-14.

ECHS performed “Joy” by Frank Ticheli and “Valley Forge” by Karl L. King arranged by James Swearingen. The group received an overall distinguished rating for their performance.

The East Carter Middle School band performed “Colliding Visions” by Brian Balmages and “The Tempest” by Robert W. Smith. The group received an overall proficient rating for their performance.

The bands were evaluated in the areas of tone, intonation, technique, balance, interpretation, and musical effect.

The Middle School Band will perform its spring concert on Tuesday, May 2 at 7 p.m. at the ECMS gymnasium.

The High School Band will present their spring concert on Thursday, May 4 at 7 p.m. at the ECHS gymnasium.

All concerts are free and open to the public.
