Mr. Johnnie Delane Bowling, age 74, of Elliott County, Kentucky passed away Saturday, February 26, 2022 at his residence.
He was born March 22, 1947 in Carter County, Kentucky a son of the late Willard Bowling and Nadine Leadingham Bowling.
Johnnie proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a retired bus driver of 28 years for Carter County Board of Education. He loved going to church, reading and preaching God’s Word, farming and spending time with his family.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ricky Bowling.
He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Lorene Eldridge Bowling; three sons, Tony (Alisha) Blankenbeckler of Elliott County, Kentucky, Johnny Ray (Michelle) Bowling of Rowan County, Kentucky, Shannon (Amanda) Blankenbeckler of Elliott County, Kentucky; two daughters, Tammy (Paul) Ison of Walton, Kentucky, Carolyn Ann (Alan) Hill of Floyd County, Kentucky; eight grandchildren, Jarrod Ison, Brandon Sparks, Cody and Jamie Adams, Hanalena James, Brycen Lewis, Shelby and Hadley Blankenbeckler; two great grandchildren, Nathaniel and Averie Sparks; one brother, Lester (Alma) Bowling of Grayson, Kentucky and a host of other family and friends that will sadly miss him
Funeral services will be held Wednesday 11:00 a.m. March 2 , 2022 at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Highway 60 , Olive Hill, Kentucky with Elder Marty Carty, Elder Keith Tipon, Elder Terry Bryant and Elder Junior Ruggles officiating. Burial will follow in the Moore Cemetery in Elliott County.
Visitation will be Tuesday 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., March 1, 2022 at Globe Funeral Chapel.
Military Grave side Honors will be conducted by the Olive Hill America Legion Post 138.
Shannon Blankenbeckler, Patrick Bowling, Brandon Sparks, Jarrod Ison, Johnny Ray Bowling, and Brycen Lewis will serve as pallbearers.
Tony Blankenbeckler, Paul Ison, Johnny Watson, Roger Jamerson, Lonnie Bryant, Charles Ray Barker, Levon Bear, Elwood Eldridge and Charlie Holbrook will serve as honorary pallbearers.
