Luke Edward Back, age 89, of Grayson, Kentucky, passed away Monday, December 4, 2023, at his residence.
He was born Wednesday, January 17, 1934, in Carter County, Kentucky, a son of the late Earl and Alice Carroll Back.
He was a member of Carter Christian Holiness Church. Luke proudly served his country in the United States Navy and he was a member of Local 317 International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers for 31 years. He enjoyed going out to eat, spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two sons, Luke Back and Phillip Menach; one brother, Kenneth Back; three sisters, Evelyn Fudge, Nancy Gibbey and Sabra McGuire.
Luke is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Patsy Burnett Back; one son, Mark (Heather) Back of Grayson, Kentucky; two daughters, Robin (John) Harper and Lisa Sallie all of Grayson, Kentucky; nine grandchildren, Missy (Scott) Caudill, April Sagraves, Brandon Fosson, Justin (Elizabeth) Kouns, Tyler Back, Marcada Back, Alex Gilbert, Josh Johnson and Trey Johnson; seven great-grandchildren, Marissa Caudill, Matthew Caudill, Larissa Sagraves, Karson Glover, Kenalea Fosson, Arrison Fosson and Juliana Kouns; one great-great-grandson, Jaxon Duncan, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2023, at Grayson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky, with Brother Jerry Jordan and Brother Bill Burnett officiating. Burial will follow in the Burnett Cemetery in Grayson, Kentucky.
Friends may visit after 11:30 p.m., Friday, December 8, 2023, until the service hour at Grayson Funeral Home.
Matthew Caudill, Dylan Saunders, Scott Caudill, John Harper, Tyler Back and Alex Gilbert will serve as pallbearers.
Military Honors will be conducted at grave side by American Legion Post 138.
