The following indictments were returned by the Grand Jury of the Carter Circuit Court on August 18, 2023. An indictment is not a determination of guilt or innocence. It is simply a charge that an offense has been committed and indicates that a case is pending on the charges listed. All defendants have the presumption of innocence until found guilty in a court of law.
Though it is a part of the public record, the Carter County Times does not make a habit of printing the names of minor children or the victims of alleged crimes, except under exceptional circumstances.
- Dustin Burchett, 26, of Grayson, on or about December 18, 2022, committed the offense of receiving stolen property over $10,000.00 by being in possession of a tractor belonging to another valued at over $10,000.00, knowing it to have been stolen, a Class C Felony.
- Misty Easterling, 42, of Olive Hill, on or about July 26, 2023, committed the offense of possession of a controlled substance first degree, first offense methamphetamine when she possessed a schedule two narcotic, a Class D Felony.
- Drew Zirkle, 35, of Grayson, on or about July 19, 2023, committed the offenses of attempted rape, first degree, by attempting to engage in sexual intercourse with another person by forcible compulsion, a Class C Felony; attempted robbery, first degree, while attempting to commit theft, he threatened the immediate use of physical force upon another person with intent to accomplish the theft, a Class C Felony.
