A Carter County man was arrested on Monday on a series of charges related to inappropriate activity with a minor.
Stephen Campbell, 39, of Grayson, was arrested by Kentucky State Police on Monday afternoon on a series of charges related to inappropriate activity with a minor.
Campbell was charged with using electronic communications for the purpose of procuring or promoting the use of a minor in sexual or other prohibited activities, a violation under KRS 510.155, and a Class D or Class C Felony.
Campbell was also charged with second degree unlawful transaction with a minor, and distribution of obscene matter to minors.
If convicted, the use of electronic communications could carry a sentence of up to five years, and could require the defendant to register as a sex offender for the next 20 years.
Unlawful transaction with a minor in the second degree indicates the defendant was accused of “knowingly induc(ing), assist(ing), or caus(ing) a minor to engage in illegal controlled substances activity… or any other criminal activity constituting a felony,” and is also a Class D Felony with a sentence of one to five years.
Campbell’s charge of distributing obscene matter is a first offense, and thus a Class A Misdemeanor that carries a maximum possible sentence of 12 months.
Campbell is a former EMT, who has worked with both the Carter and Elliott County emergency ambulance services in the past, and most recently worked as an occupational health and safety hazard consultant, according to his social media profile.
