The Carter County Fiscal Court held a special Meeting on Monday, to make decisions related to surplusing a county vehicle and trailer, and to decide whether or not to remove Buck Road from the county maintenance schedule. Magistrates from all districts, with the exception of district four magistrate Danny Holbrook, were present, and judge executive Brandon Burton opened the special meeting.

“We have a request to remove Buck Road from county maintenance,” Burton informed the court. A motion was then made by Harley Rayburn (district five) and seconded by Chris Huddle (district one) to begin the process of removing the road, with the court voting unanimously to do so. Judge executive Burton and two magistrates – district two magistrate Derrick McKinney and district five magistrate Harley Rayburn – will go look over the road a final time and return a report to the court with their findings.

The court had voted in a previous meeting to surplus a 2024 Mack truck and a 2001 Eager Beaver trailer.  The court voted in their latest meeting to start the process with the 2024 Mack truck and begin taking bids. The court also voted to set a reserve for the truck of $195,000, noting that if the reserve is not met the truck will not be sold. The court also voted to start the process of taking bids on the 2001 Eager Beaver trailer. The vote was unanimous to set the reserve on the trailer at $20,000 likewise noting that if the reserve is not met the trailer will not be sold.

The court also voted to approve claims and transfers.
