FLEMINGSBURG, Ky.– Bridge replacements on KY 174 (Soldier-Lawton Road) in Carter County will require temporary highway closures in July.
Contractors will replace two old concrete culvert-style bridges on KY 174 near the Enterprise community with new aluminum arch culverts according to the following tentative schedule:
- Beginning Monday, July 10: KY 174 will be closed just east of Sloan Lane and Reuben Road (milepoint 3.98) to demolish and install culverts. Road will remain closed day and night through Friday, July 14.
- Beginning Monday, July 17: KY 174 will be closed between Underwood Road and Hawk Lane – about 4 tenths of a mile west of KY 955 (milepoint 4.8) – to demolish and install culverts. Road will remain closed day and night through Friday, July 21.
During the road closures, all through traffic should reroute using US 60 and KY 1626 (Dry Branch) or other local routes.
Work is being done by Mountain Enterprises, Inc., under a $369,034.50 low-bid contract awarded by the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
Road work schedules may be adjusted if inclement weather or other unforeseen delays occur. Motorists are asked to heed all warning signs, slow down in work zones and remain aware of workers and construction equipment when traveling.
