Carolyn Lorraine Prichard Davis

1926-2026

Carolyn Lorraine Prichard Davis, 100, of Lexington, Kentucky, passed away on August 6, 2026, in Lexington. She was born on May 12, 1926, in Johns Run, Kentucky. She lived a long and meaningful life marked by family, her work and the many joys she celebrated with an adventurous, and loving spirit.

She was the wife of the late V. Edward Davis, and together they raised 7 children. Carolyn is survived by her three sons, Eugene “Gene” Davis (Pat) of Auburn, Washington, Chuck Davis (Jan) of Dayton, Ohio, and Jerry Davis of Lexington, Kentucky, and her four daughters, Barbara Stacy of Lexington, Kentucky, Mary Davis Barton (Michael) of Richmond, Virginia, Sharon Wilham (Ralph) of Lexington, Kentucky, and Janet White (Richard) of Sturgis, Kentucky. She was a proud and loving grandmother to 10 grandchildren, and she cherished her 13 great-grandchildren.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Charles Fleming Prichard and Virginia Mae Kitchen Prichard, her husband Edward Davis, her son-in-law Larry Stacy, her brothers John Carlton Prichard, Harlan Prichard, and Lawrence Prichard, her sisters Nancy June Prichard and Georgia Belle Prichard. She is survived by her sister Dorothy Abbott of Bridgeton, New Jersey, and her brothers James Prichard, Herbert Prichard, and Allen Lewis Prichard of Grayson, Kentucky.

Carolyn was a member of Centenary Methodist Church. and volunteered in the church nursery and with Alpha. She took art classes through the Osher program at the University of Kentucky and was an accomplished artist. She devoted herself to teaching starting with a one room school at Music Kentucky and retiring after teaching 4th grade for 23 years at Star Elementary School, Rush, Kentucky. She touched the lives of many children throughout her teaching career.

Carolyn loved art, gardening, fishing, and traveling. She found joy in the beauty and people of the world around her.

Carolyn will be remembered for her spirit, faith, dedication to education, and love for her family.
