Elder Theodore “Tick” Evans

1936-2021

Elder Theodore “Tick” Evans, age 84, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, entered into rest peacefully, Friday afternoon, March 5, 2021, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born December 27, 1936, in Elliott County, Kentucky, a son of the late William Vernon “Vern” Evans and Nora Henderson Evans.

Tick was an Elder of the United Baptist Church. He retired from Kentucky Electric Steel as a welder and head mechanic. Tick enjoyed gardening, farming, raising cattle, feeding his purple martins and loafing at Gilliam’s Farm Store with his friends. Above all he loved spending time with his wife, Loretta, his children, and especially with his grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, Walter Vernon Evans; three brothers; and three sisters.

Tick is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Loretta Duncan Evans; one son, Robert S. Evans (Amelia) of Grayson, Kentucky; three daughters, Debra Lynn Evans of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Karen Lee Stead and Lisa Diane Whitt (Rob), all of Winchester, Kentucky; one granddaughter, Kristen Leigh Bledsoe (Chris); six grandsons, Jerad Taylor Whitt (Alexis), Jesse Evan Whitt, Kyle Ray Evans (Melinda), Michael Ryan Evans, Joshua Theodore Stead, and Jacob Lee Stead; one great granddaughter, Lily Faye Evans; three brothers; and one sister. He also leaves many other family members and friends who will sadly miss him.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, March 10, 2021, at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Elder Isiah Vance and Elder Lawrence Adkins officiating. Burial will follow in the Olive Hill Memorial Park in Olive Hill, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, March 9, 2021, and after 9 a.m. on Wednesday at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway U.S. 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky 41164.

Jerad Whitt, Jesse Whitt, Kyle Evans, Joshua Stead, Jacob Stead, and Chris Bledsoe will serve as pallbearers. Ray Haywood and Eric Evans will serve as honorary pallbearers.
