Millard Skaggs, age 78, of Olive Hill, KY entered into rest Saturday evening, June 6, 2026 at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, KY. He was born February 16, 1948, in Elliott County, KY, a son of the late Labourn Skaggs and Mary Lawson Gee.
In addition to his mother and father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Bob Rose and his stepfather, Hurst Gee.
Throughout his life Millard worked for Rockwell Corporation, as a pipefitter, and was a lifelong farmer. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, welding, farming; basically, he was a jack of all trades. Millard was a founding member of the Route 504 Fire Department, where he served many years as call sign 623. He was a member of the Stark Church for over 40 years, serving faithfully wherever needed. Millard was instrumental in constructing the new church building, which was completed in one year.
He is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Lyda Harper Skaggs; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Robert (Danielle) Skaggs of Morehead, KY, David Skaggs of Olive Hill, KY, Matthew (Krista) Skaggs of Bellfonte, KY, and Isaiah (Becky) Skaggs of Olive Hill, KY; one sister, Suzy Meek of Grayson, KY; and one brother, Dale Gee of Madison, IN. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as a host of relatives and friends that will cherish his memory.
Celebration of Life services will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, June 9, 2026, at Stark Church, 3299 Stark Ridge Road, Olive Hill, KY 41164 with Pastors Brian Flannery and Dewayne Brewer officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at the Kinster Cemetery.
