Ronald “Ronnie” Woodrow Burge

1951-2024

Ronald “Ronnie” Woodrow Burge, age 72, of Carter City, Kentucky, passed away Friday, June 7, 2024, at Elliott Nursing and Rehabilitation in Sandy Hook, Kentucky after his battle with cancer.

He was born Wednesday, November 7, 1951, in Portsmouth, Ohio, to the late Charlie and Bessie Lillis Kibbey Burge.

Ronnie was a retired tow boat captain with Ashland Oil, with more than 30 years of service. He was an outdoorsman who loved fishing, but especially hunting, and he had a great love of old cars and trucks. He loved his family and friends and spending time with them.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Rhonda Marie Burge; six brothers, Carl Burge, Steve Burge, Walter “WF” Burge, Charles “Skip” Burge, Arnold Burge and Roscoe Burge; three sisters, Myrtle Cline, Pauline Burge, Judy Carte; two sisters-in-law, JoAnn Lewis Burge, Linda Roe Burge; two nephews, Rick Utley, Timmy Burge and his niece, Carlon Burge.

Ronald is survived by his companion of 19 years, Felma Riley; two brothers and four sisters-in-law, Elwood and Wanda Burge and Bob Burge all of Carter City, Kentucky; Janet Burge, Dottie Burge both of Olive Hill, Kentucky, Ruth Ann Burge of Holland Michigan; four nephews, Tony Lucas, David Utley, Jeff Burge, Mike Burge; nine nieces, Pam Menix, Jan Higginbotham, Angela Parsons, Anita Lucas, Robin Adkins, Krista Dailey, Karen Valandingham, Nicki Sackett and Ashley Uhe; the mother of his daughter, Teresa Burge, along with many other relatives, friends and neighbors who will sadly mourn his passing.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, June 12, 2024, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Bobby Burge officiating. Burial will follow in Horsley Cemetery, in Carter City, Kentucky.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, June 11, 2024, and after 9 a.m., Wednesday, June 13, 2024, until the service hour at Globe Funeral Chapel.

Michael Burge, Austin Burge, Jeff Burge, Matthew Burge, Jessie Parsons and Josh Burge will serve as pallbearers.
