William Wylie Callihan, age 89, of Olive Hill, Kentucky, passed away Monday, July 15, 2024, at UK-St Claire Healthcare in Morehead, Kentucky.
He was born Tuesday, April 2, 1935, in Carter County, Kentucky, to the late Elmer and Ida Mae Lowe Callihan.
Bill proudly served our country in the Army National Guard for 24 years and after a long career, retired from General Refractories Company. He was a member of the Olive Hill Historical Society, the Carter County Shrine Club, the Olive Hill Methodist Church and the planning and zoning commission. He enjoyed working on his clocks, playing golf, and spending time with his family and loved ones telling stories.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one son, William Keith Callihan; one daughter, Tracy Leigh Callihan Williams and one brother, Elmer Lee Callihan.
Bill is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Jackie Kerns Callihan; one son, Jarrod Wylie (Lara Bell) Callihan; two grandchildren, Andrew (Abbey) Williams, Hannah Williams (Clay) Sivils; one brother, Lloyd Thomas (Alberta) Callihan of Olive Hill, Kentucky, along with many other family and friends who will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2024, at Olive Hill United Methodist Church, Olive Hill, Kentucky, with Brother Andrew Williams and Brother John Lambert officiating. Burial will follow in Kentucky Veterans’ North East Cemetery, in Grayson, Kentucky.
Friends may visit after 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, July 23, 2024, until the service hour at Olive Hill United Methodist Church.
Andrew Williams, Clay Sivils, Larry Abbott, Gary Abbott and Hal Bledsoe will serve as pallbearers.
