The West Carter High School Comets and Lady Comets basketball teams kicked off the start of the upcoming season with their annual maroon and white night. This gives the community a chance to be introduced to both teams and see them in action.
The night included team introductions, several competitions with giveaways, and ended with scrimmages for both teams. Both teams competed in a three point contest and a skills challenge.
The cheerleaders were also out on the floor showing off their stunts, going through cheers and demonstrating the hard work they put into what they do.
The night ended with scrimmages for the Lady Comets and then the Comets. Both teams were divided into the maroon team and the white team. This friendly competition allowed the community to see what they can look forward to in the upcoming season.
Both teams will start their seasons at the beginning of December with the Comets facing the Lawrence County Bulldogs at home at 7:30 on December 2, while the Lady Comets will face the Raceland Lady Rams at home at 7:30 on December 3. (Photos by Katie Barker, Carter County Times)
