Grayson Gallery & Art Center
The Grayson Gallery & Art Center will present “Kicking Off the ARTS 2024” with an opening reception for artists and the public during the monthly F!nal Fr!days Art Walk event on January 26. Doors will open at 6 p.m., with awards and announcements set for 7:30 p.m.. Music and festivities will continue until 9 p.m.
Artists have submitted a wide variety of works in various mediums and, as a special category – for this month only – “AI art” was accepted. However, these particular pieces (if any are submitted) will be for display only and not eligible for awards. Four awards will be presented to the artists of the chosen pieces as follows: People’s Choice, by popular vote; GGAC Board choice; Brandon Click Memorial; and the Pen Lady’s Choice, each at $50 – or equivalent as a purchase award.
Entertainment for the evening will be performed by Sean Whiting & the Big Badness which consists of Whiting on guitar and vocals, drummer Sam Rogers, and additional guitarists Tony Oney and Austin Lewis, with Trevor Litteral playing bass. Refreshments will be provided by Catering by Laura.
Artwork will be accepted on January 20 and 22, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day. Artists may submit work for the upcoming exhibit at the gallery.
Other upcoming events following “Kicking Off the Arts, 2024” will include:
- February 10 & 12, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day – artists may submit work for the upcoming exhibit.
- February 23, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. – Opening Reception for “Peace, Love & Diversity in the Arts” event, featuring a special performance by “Lady D” (Doris Fields) of “The Bessie Smith Story” in honor of Black History Month.
- March 23 & 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. each day – artists may submit work in celebration of Women’s History Month.
- March 29, 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. – Opening Reception for the annual “Women in the Arts” event.
