Carter County singer wins first place at Grayson Octoberfest competition

GRAYSON — Carter County country music artist Tristen Moore walked away with first-place honors Saturday, October 31, after competing in the “Scary-oke” singing contest held as part of Grayson’s Octoberfest 2026 celebration.

Moore, a native of Olive Hill, earned the competition’s top honor and received a cash prize. The amount of the award was not disclosed.

The Halloween-themed singing competition was among the activities offered during the community’s Octoberfest celebration.

For Moore, the victory marks another accomplishment in his continuing pursuit of a professional country music career.

The young performer began developing his musical talents through karaoke competitions, where he gained valuable experience performing before live audiences. Over time, those appearances helped him develop his stage presence, strengthen his vocal abilities, and build a following throughout Eastern Kentucky and neighboring communities.

Although Moore has enjoyed considerable success in singing competitions, he is now working to move beyond the karaoke circuit and establish himself as a professional country music entertainer.

His musical interests are rooted in traditional country music, a style reflected in his slogan, “Real Country. Real Life. Real Music.”

Moore has continued seeking opportunities to perform at festivals, community celebrations, and other venues as he works to expand his audience.

While his long-term ambitions extend beyond competitive singing, Saturday’s victory in Grayson demonstrates that the local stages where he developed his talents remain an important part of his musical journey.

For the Olive Hill artist, the first-place finish represents another step toward his ultimate goal of building a lasting career in country music.
