For Carter County Public Library We have had many successes recently here at the library. Our home school program is off to a great start. Meetings are every Tuesday at 6 p.m. More are coming and participating each week. If you’re curious, come join the fun. Girl Scout meetings at Grayson Branch are on the second Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. and the last Monday of the month at 5:30 p.m. The girls are having lots of exciting learning going on. Christy McCleese is doing our book club in Grayson, but there is always room for more to join. We had a lot of people show up to our Thanksgiving at the Library, arranged by our Specials Coordinator, Nancy Jane King. She has Christmas at the Library planned for December 18 at 5 p.m. We’re looking forward to having more people join us for a story, an activity, presents, and food. This event is free to everyone; and be sure to bring the kids for a present. Game night will be on December 11th at 5 p.m. Come out and play games! Bring your own or play ours. Or just watch the fun and enjoy the snacks! Hometown Holidays will find us at the Grayson Branch, on December 2. We will be reading a story, doing an activity, and handing out cookies and hot chocolate. Bring the family and have a wonderful time, then enjoy the parade afterward. In other exciting news for the library, we have partnered with KCU to bring more programming to both branches, as well as to improve the organization and cataloging of our collections. They will be working with us on some exciting projects, like our Summer Reading Program. We have also partnered with the Northeast Head Start Program. I was privileged to join a parent meeting and talk to some of the wonderful parents of our community, and tell them about our many programs we have offered at the Library. We also recently worked with Olive Hill Chamber of Commerce and handed out free hot chocolate on Saturday. This was to promote all the small businesses in the area. We have a lot of great people that offer many shopping opportunities right here at home. Be sure to shop local.
