ASHLAND, Ky. – The Surgical Technology program at Ashland Community and Technical College is currently accepting applications through October 1, 2023.

The Surgical Technology program runs from January to December.

Surgical Technologists are allied health professionals, they perform under the direct supervision of a surgeon to provide the highest standard of surgical care to patients in the operating room.

“In this career, you serve as a sterile expert and safety advocate,” says Heather Cantrell, Surgical Technology Program Coordinator. “Our students receive the education they need to become Surgical Technologists who are essential to ensuring every patient receives the highest quality of surgical care.”

Surgical Technologists are responsible for ensuring the surgical patient’s safety by applying their expertise in aseptic technique, knowledge of human anatomy, surgical procedures, and surgical instrumentation to facilitate the physician’s performance of invasive therapeutic and diagnostic procedures.

Graduates from the Surgical Technology program at ACTC are eligible to sit for the National Certification. Earning the credential of Certified Surgical Technologist, CST, enables the graduate employment eligibility in every state in the US.
