Confusion Solution
We often think that in order to get our homes in order, we have to take on monumental tasks that leave us overwhelmed and unable to start. Now, we have talked about this before, but here are some additional tips for setting us on a path to continuing the process of organizing without the pain.
Scheduling is, of course, a method for starting, but selecting the space is also important. What is it that you want to accomplish? Is it revamping kitchen cupboards? Is it focusing on sorting through documents? Everyone has a different idea about what needs organized. It can even be as small as moving items from one room to another. Keep in mind that wherever you feel the need for order doesn’t have to be time consuming.
After a long day at work or after picking up the kids from school, stop and stand where you are, look around the space you are in and just do something. Start by putting away the things you have brought home or moving things from that one room, which don’t belong there, to their rightful place. It’s a start in the right direction. Make it a habit, every time you arrive home, to stop and pick up what’s in front of you. Once you do that, then you will be able to focus on more changes throughout your home at a later time. This is actually a motivating tactic, believe it or not. Starting a small routine will fix the immediate need for order, leaving less clutter and discord. Creating a small atmosphere of order will lead to a more intense desire to do more.
It’s as simple as that!
