ASHLAND, Ky. – Ashland Community and Technical College is excited to host the Ninth Annual Tri-State Conference on Diversity and Inclusion on September 22, 2023, at the Technology Drive Campus in Grayson, KY.
“This year’s conference theme is Inclusive Leadership in the 21st Century,” Kevin Harrison, ACTC Senior Fellow of Diversity commented. “As we move forward in education, business, industry, and government, it’s evident that people long to be part of something unique. Inclusive leadership is about creating an atmosphere of belonging and ensuring everyone feels like they’re an integral part of their organization’s team.”
“We’re really looking forward to hosting again this year,” Al Baker, ACTC Director of Cultural Diversity shared. “We held this event previously in 2016 and had a wonderful turnout, and we’re looking forward to an even greater one this year.”
The keynote speaker for the conference will be Eric Ellis, who currently serves at Integrity Development as the President and CEO. Integrity Development is a diversity and inclusion consulting firm that focuses on providing strategic corporate culture and learning solutions for multinational organizations, mid-sized businesses, educational institutions, and public sector organizations. Ellis has been recognized as one of the nation’s leading consultants on diversity and inclusion and has received the NAACP President’s award, in addition to many other leadership and business awards.
“Diversity and inclusion are so important. We’re honored to have Eric Ellis as the keynote speaker. He has such extensive knowledge on the topics,” Baker added.
Sessions during the conference will include a multitude of topics, including building relationships through communication, inclusive voices in marginalized spaces, black female excellence and leadership in action, moving beyond diversity to inclusivity in leadership, and so much more.
“We’re really hoping to make an impact in the community and provide people with substantial things that they can take back with them,” Baker concluded.
