The Grayson Police Department issued a statement through the Grayson City Facebook page around 11 a.m. on Monday announcing arrests related to an early morning Main Street stabbing.
According to the release, from Assistant Chief Kyle Smith, officers with the Grayson PD responded to an incident on East Main Street at approximately 2 a.m. on the morning of Monday, July 20, “in reference to a physical altercation resulting in life threatening injuries due to stabbing.”
The release went on to reassure the public that this was an isolated incident, which police were able to quickly respond to, and did not represent any danger to the wider public.
“We would like the public to know this is an isolated incident and there is no threat to the public,” the release read. “Suspects are currently in custody of the Grayson Police Department.”
The two presumed suspects were booked into the Carter County Detention Center later that same day.
Lucio Sanchez-Basan, 21, of Grayson, initially booked as John Doe in some third-party databases, was arrested and booked into the detention center sometime before noon on Monday on charges of alcohol intoxication in a public place, menacing, and tampering with physical evidence.
In addition to being initially booked without valid identification, Sanchez-Basan was also incorrectly identified as Lucio Sanchez-Crescencio for a brief period on the detention center website before his name was corrected. His profile on the detention center’s JailTracker site also showed a hold on Sanchez-Basan by Immigration Custom Enforcement following the update. The reason for the hold was listed as deportation.
Shortly after the primary suspect in the case, Adio Sanchez Cresencio, 21, also of Grayson, was booked into the detention center on charges of attempted murder and tampering with physical evidence.
There was no indication from police statements of what may have led to the stabbing incident.
