Grayson, Kentucky – Carter County Schools is pleased to announce that Kelley Moore has been selected as the new Principal at the Carter County Career & Technical Center. Kelley will replace MaryLou DeHarte who has accepted a position with the Kentucky Department of Education. Kelley is well known to the school community as she currently serves as Principal at East Carter High School. Prior to being a high school principal, she was an assistant principal at East Carter Middle School and an elementary teacher at Carter City and Prichard Elementary Schools.
During her tenure at East Carter High School, the school was recognized as an “educational bright spot” by the Prichard Committee for Academic Excellence. The designation brought with it the attention of other schools across the state to look for ideas to use in their own classrooms. Previously, East Carter High School was named a Hub School by the Kentucky Department of Education.
Ms. Moore was selected from a talented candidate pool in a competitive process that included input from Career & Technical Center instructors. She looks forward to building on the great work already in progress at the Career and Technical Center and is excited about the future growth and opportunities at the school. She is committed to ensuring that all students learn to their maximum potential and to fostering innovation through collaboration with teachers, staff, students and families.
The district and school will begin the process of selecting a new principal at East Carter High School.
