Grayson Gallery celebrates Pride in Arts

By Dan Click, Director, Grayson Gallery & Art Center

The Grayson Gallery & Art Center (GGAC) will present their annual “Pride in the Arts” event with an opening reception for participating artists and the public tonight, Friday, June 28, from 6 to 9 p.m.

With equity and inclusion as this year’s theme, artists from across the Tri-State and Eastern Kentucky region have submitted dozens of original pieces for display with many for sale. Mediums represented include drawing, painting, mixed media, fiber art, sculpture, and computer generated works.

Catering by Sheila Marie will provide refreshments.  Entertainment will include a special performance by Rhiannon Wallin as well as house music for dancing and even singing along with some favorite tunes. Due to the current extreme hot weather, visitors are encouraged to dress for the summer season. Water will be available throughout the evening.

The Awards & Announcements portion of the evening will take place at approximately 7:45 p.m., during which gallery news, shows, and events updates will be shared. In addition, artists awards for People’s Choice (by popular vote, voting ends at 7:30 pm); The Pen Lady Choice; GGACBoard Choice;.and the Brandon Click Memorial award will be presented.  Winners will each receive $50.00 – or an equivalent purchase prize – and a blue ribbon.

Coming up at the GGAC will be July’s monthly F!nal Fr!days event on July 26, featuring the art & music of Eric Bolander along with various artists’ works on display and light refreshments.  August’s plans for the gallery will include an open to all and anything art show with music by From the Hills. In September, with more details forthcoming, a special dual artist exhibition for the Talented Twosome – the Art of Sydney Kendrick and Shayla Nicole Moore.

Art classes are under discussion and will include children’s art classes as well as adult workshops.  Contact director Dan Click for questions and information on all events, classes, and volunteer opportunities via graysongallery@gmail.com.
