FRANKFORT– Senator Robin Webb, D-Grayson, announced that Carter County will receive $984,148 for critical water and sewer improvements. These funds are part of the $250 million appropriated from the American Rescue Plan Act to the Kentucky Infrastructure Authority for the Drinking Water and Wastewater Grant Program as of May 2024, outlined in Senate Bill (SB) 36 passed by the General Assembly during the 2021 Regular Session.
Sen. Webb successfully helped secure the funding to address essential water infrastructure needs, ensuring safe and reliable water services for local communities.
“I am delighted to share this exciting news with Carter County residents,” said Sen. Webb. “This investment will significantly enhance our water and sewer systems, ensuring better access to clean and dependable water.”
The allocated funds will be directed to the following projects in Carter County:
- Grayson Utilities Commission: $566,000 for the KY 3297 Waterline Replacement Project
- City of Olive Hill: $325,120 for the Olive Hill Leak Detection and Repair Project
- Rattlesnake Ridge Water District: $93,028 for a GPS/GIS system
Sen. Webb emphasized the importance of local decision-making in identifying and prioritizing infrastructure needs. “Local governments are in the best position to understand their unique challenges and needs,” she stated. “I am proud to support these essential projects and the benefits they will bring to our communities.”
“These improvements will play a crucial role in maintaining the health and safety of our residents,” Sen. Webb added. “Though more funding is always welcome, I am very pleased with the progress we are making in upgrading our infrastructure.”
