Storm highlights Grayson’s drainage issues

Cars traverse a flooded Rupert Lane in this submitted photo. Heavy rain on Monday afternoon led to flash flood warnings across the county and region – and highlighted Grayson’s ongoing drainage problems. The city has long had issues with drainage, especially along Rupert Lane, Robert and Mary Street, and East Midland Trail. Improvement projects related to the park and a sidewalk project along Robert and Mary down Midland Trail have begun addressing some of the issues in that area, but waters continue to rise along low-lying areas such as Rupert Lane during heavy rain events.
