FLEMINGSBURG – Interstate 64 travelers should watch for one-lane traffic in Carter County over the next couple of weeks for blacktop patching.
Beginning Monday, Sept. 26, contractors will remove broken blacktop and apply new asphalt along several dozen short sections of I-64 from the Rowan County line to Grayson, mile markers 148 to 170.
Crews will close one lane of I-64 where they’re working, and paving locations will change frequently. Motorists should watch for new lane closures, merging traffic, and other changes in different areas each day through early October.
Please slow down, heed all warning signs, watch for construction equipment leaving and entering travel lanes, and use caution to protect yourself and workers.
The work’s being done by Mountain Enterprises, Inc., under a $680,210.50 highway improvement contract from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet.
