James Edward Carter, 75, of Webbville passed away Saturday September 24, 2022 at his residence. Jim was born January 8, 1947 in Ashland, KY a son of the late, Edward and Helen Louise Posey Carter. In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by a son, James Franklin “Wobbles” Carter; a grandson, Arthur Blake Sagraves; and a brother, Tim Carter. Jim graduated from Prichard High School. After high school, Jim served his country honorably in the US Army, 101st Airborne division during the Vietnam War. Jim worked as a trucker and was known as, “Fat Albert”, most recently working for Sexton Brothers. Jim enjoyed being outdoors fishing and hunting; and was and experienced blade smith. Jim is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Rewanna Hicks Carter; three daughters, Shannon (Danny) Slaughter of Rush, Christie Sagraves of Webbville, and Tara (Michelle) Cheston of Falls Church, VA; five grandchildren, Jordan Smith, James Smith, Isabelle Slaughter, Michael Wade Sagraves, and Taylor Dawn Sagraves; three great-grandchildren, Arthur Blake Sagraves, Alice Rae Carmack and Blake David Sagraves; a brother, Phillip Robin Carter of Grayson; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family and friends who all mourn his passing.
Funeral services will be 1 pm Wednesday September 28, 2022 at the Malone Funeral Home with Bro. Gerald Ferguson and Bro. David Boggs officiating. Burial will follow in the Hensley Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be 6-9 pm Tuesday and after 9 am Wednesday until the service hour.
