Weekly arrest report: 6/16/21

The following individuals were arrested and booked into the Carter County Detention Center over the past week. This list includes local arrests only. It does not include federal inmates being housed at or transported through the detention center. 

  • Derek Wright, 20, of Grayson, arrested by Kentucky State Police, on charges of receiving stolen property – under $10,000, arrested and booked on June 6.
  • Aaron Sturgill, 53, of Olive Hill, arrested by Kentucky State Police, on charges of first degree possession of methamphetamine – second offense, resisting arrest, failure to surrender a revoked operator’s license, and a warrant as a fugitive from another state, arrested and booked on June 6. 
  • Betty Stephens, 46, of Sandy Hook, arrested by Kentucky State Police, on charges of trafficking in a controlled substance (carfentanil or fentanyl derivatives) – second offense, operating a motor vehicle under the influence, possession of drug paraphernalia, no registration receipt, no registration plates, failure to maintain insurance, failure to register transfer of vehicle, and operating a vehicle with an expired license, arrested June 6, booked June 7. 
  • Clifford Cathey, 43, of Ashland, arrested by Carter County Circuit Court, on a charge of contempt of court – libel/slander – resistance to order, arrested and booked June 7. 
  • William Sloas, 49, of Grayson, arrested by Grayson PD, on charges of first degree unlawful imprisonment, first degree robbery, and third degree criminal mischief, arrested and booked on June 7.
  • William Church, 49, of Grayson, arrested by Grayson PD, on a charge of failure to appear, arrested June 7, booked June 8. 
  • Jimmy Littleton, 35, of Olive Hill, arrested by Boyd County Jail, on probation violation charges, arrested May 25, booked June 8. 
  • Larry Gannon, 55, of Grayson, arrested by Grayson PD, on a warrant for parole violation, arrested and booked June 8. 
  • Lonnie Bailey, 38, of Olive Hill, arrested by Kentucky State Police, on charges of failure to appear, possession of methamphetamine, and leaving the scene of an accident/failure to render aid or assistance, arrested and booked on June 9. 
  • Ashlee Matthews, 30, of Morehead, arrested by Kentucky State Police, on two counts of failure to appear, and public intoxication – controlled substance, arrested and booked on June 9. 
  • Robert Bennett, 32, of Grayson, arrested by Grayson PD, on a charge of fourth degree assault – domestic violence with minor injury, arrested June 9, booked June 10. 
  • Mark Sargent, 33, of Grayson, arrested by Grayson PD, on charges third degree rape, first degree possession of heroin, first degree possession of methamphetamine, second degree unlawful transaction with a minor, and possession of drug paraphernalia, arrested and booked June 10. 
  • James Haywood, 80, of Grayson, arrested by Grayson PD, on charges of failure to produce insurance card, open alcoholic beverage container in a motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle under the influence of alcohol, arrested and booked on June 11.
  • Richard Allan, 53, of Olive Hill, arrested by Carter County Sheriff’s Department, on charges of second degree disorderly conduct, possession of marijuana, and fourth degree assault – domestic violence with minor injury, arrested and booked on June 12. 
  • Jessica McGuire, 29, of Olive Hill, arrested by Kentucky State Police, on a charge of failure to appear, arrested and booked on June 12. 
  • Shane Abbott, 37, of Frankfort, arrested by Kentucky State Police, on a charge of contempt of court – libel/slander – resistance to order, arrested and booked on June 12. 
  • William Berry, 48, of Grayson, arrested by Grayson PD, on a charge of failure to appear, arrested and booked on June 13. 
  • Douglas Roberts, 43, of Ashland, arrested by Bath County Sheriff’s Department, on a charge of failure to appear, arrested May 31, booked June 13. 
  • Romie Valandingham, 68, of Grayson, arrested by Grayson PD, on charges of operating a motor vehicle under the influence, and failure to illuminate head lamps, arrested June 13, booked June 14. 

All of the charges listed are arrest charges only, and do not indicate an indictment or a conviction for the charges in question. All subjects are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. 

Information is compiled from publicly available sources, but may not be comprehensive. Individuals who are released or post bail shortly after arrest may not be listed.
