Clarence K. “Toots” Boggs

1923-2023

Clarence K. “Toots” Boggs went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at the age of 100. He was born May 30, 1923 in Lawton, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Esther Bellew Boggs, brother James Estill “Jack” Boggs and an infant sister, as well as his first wife, Bessy Humphrey Boggs. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Barbara Ruley Kiser Boggs, her son Phillip (Desiree) Kiser of Charleston, WV, grandchildren: Erin(Nathan) Sayre of Kenova, WV, John Kiser of Charleston, WV, and Jessica (Nicholas) Schubring of Grant Town, WV, four great-grandchildren: Caleb and Levi Sayre and Amelia and Eleanor Schubring, along with a host of family and friends who will mourn his passing.

Toots was an avid fisherman and thoroughly enjoyed life. He said he started driving about age 10 and drove various vehicles such as dump trucks and school buses for a living for much of his adult life. He was a decorated veteran of the European theatre in World War II and participated in the American Legion post 138 for 77 years as the longest continuous active member in the state of Kentucky. He was also a member of the Soldier Masonic Lodge #708 for 72 years. Toots enjoyed delivering meal on wheels to shut-ins for many years. He attended the Olive Hill Senior Citizens Center and enjoyed traveling with the group, especially if it was to eat out. Most importantly, Toots accepted Christ as his Savior and belonged to the Christ Community Church of Olive Hill.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024, at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Joe Ruley and Brother Nathan Sayre officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery.

Friends may visit from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at Globe Funeral Chapel and after 9 a.m., Wednesday, January 3, 2024, until the service hour.

A Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m., Tuesday, January 2, 2024, by the Soldier Masonic Lodge #708. Military rites will be conducted at the grave side by American Legion Post 138.
