Our mother, Helen Deloris Reynolds Bear, surrounded by her family, departed this life and entered God’s loving arms on October 31, 2024.
Helen was born on August 17, 1929, to the late Roy and Anzona Holbrook Reynolds. Helen was a homemaker and of strong Christian faith. She loved the Lord and her family. She was known as the best cook and often opened her home for anyone to have a good meal. She loved quilting by hand, canning from her garden, tending to her flowers, gardening, and was known to make the best fried chicken and sugar cookies. She loved her family fiercely and was a hard worker. She was the backbone of the Bear family.
Helen was married to the love of her life, Ray Bear, for 54 years, prior to his passing. They were united in marriage on April 3, 1950. During their 54 years together, they shared 13 children, 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she is preceded in death by one daughter, Brenda Kay Bear; five sisters and two brothers-in-laws; Viola Reynolds, Garnett Faye Reynolds, Molly Winters, Juanita (Earl) Binion, Lenore (Carl) Moore, and three brothers and three sisters-in-law; Grover (Martha) Reynolds, Glen (Irene) Reynolds, and Bill (Mary Ann) Reynolds.
She is survived by her 12 children: Phillip (Cathy) Bear, Danny (Vicky) Bear, Patty (Larry) Skaggs, Pam (Jerry Middleton, Joann (Bernie) McDaniel, Ricky (Marquita) Bear, Linda (Daniel) Dehart, Jill Thomas, Penny (Dale) Kiser, Karen (Mike) Belprez, Sherry (Terry) Brown, and Kevin Bear; 20 grandchildren, 30 great-grandchildren, and 2 great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Ron (Rhonda) Reynolds; one sister-in-law, Sharon Rose, and one brother-in-law, Ron Winters, along with a host of family and friends that will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, November 5, 2024, at Duvall and Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother Bobby Day officiating. Burial will follow in the Bear Cemetery.
Friends may visit after 6:00 PM on Sunday, November 3, 2024, and Monday, November 4, 2024, after 9:00 AM, at Duvall & Moore Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 149 Whitt Street, Olive Hill, KY 41164.
