James ‘Chip’ McGlone (59) was born April 26, 1964 at Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, KY. He was the son of Larry McGlone of Ashland, KY and Sandra McGlone of Grayson, KY. He passed away December 30, 2023 at South Shore Nursing Rehab Facility after an extended illness.
Chip was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Carlos and Bena McGlone and his maternal grandparents, Orville ‘Shag’ Hay and James and Ruby Stewart.
In addition to his parents, Chip is survived by his long-time companion- Kelly Hall of Grayson, KY, his three children- Megan Ann Allen of Louisville, KY, Hayden James McGlone of Carbondale, IL, and Sawyer Ross McGlone of Chester, IL, his brother- John ‘JR’ Gallion of Huntington, WV, four sisters Randi McGlone of Ashland, KY, Gina Thomas (Kendall Jessie), Martha Morrison and Lori Hogan (all from Grayson, KY) and a host of nieces and nephews, friends and fellow musicians.
He was a 1982 graduate of East Carter High School.
Chip worked for GenTech (based out of Louisville, KY) where he was assigned to asphalt and manufacturing projects in Great Britain, China and Russia, finishing up his career at AK Steel in Ashland, KY.
Chip was an avid lifetime motorcyclist and collector of unique motorcycle memorabilia. He was a long-time musician, playing bass guitar for several notable bands for over four decades.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2024, at Grayson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky with Brother Kyle Burchett officiating. Burial will follow in East Carter Memory Gardens.
Friends may visit from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m., Thursday, January 4, 2024, and after 9 a.m., Friday, January 5, 2024, until the service hour at Grayson Funeral Home.
Corbin Fitzpatrick, Louie McNeal, Mick Bryan, Chris Dean, Aaron Marshall Miller and Jimmy Blanton will serve as pallbearers.
