Loretta Jean Seagraves Makonnen, age 52, of Lexington, Kentucky passed away Thursday, January 12, 2023 at St. Joseph Hospital in Lexington, Kentucky after a lengthy battle with Neurosarcoidosis.
She was born August 6, 1970, in Ashland, Kentucky, a daughter of Charles and Bonnie Knipp Seagraves of Olive Hill, Kentucky. She is preceded in death by one brother, Charles Richard Seagraves; paternal grandparents, Flemon and Hattie Seagraves; and, maternal grandparents, Estill and Opal Knipp.
In addition to her parents she is survived by two sisters, Rondia (Michael) McTush of Lexington, Kentucky and Elisabeth McCall of Solomons, Maryland; one niece, Keisha Lewis; three nephews, Keith “KC” Lewis, Brandon McTush, and Evan McTush; one great-nephew, Charles Shawn Lewis; and, one great-niece, Emilia Terry. She is also survived by a host of other family and friends, including special cousins Althea Eldridge and Audra Maxie; and, special friends Aaronetta Carter Beatty, Angela Allen, Cordy Jordan, Iva Mills, and Mace Smallwood.
Loretta received her Masters of Business Administration graduating magna cum laude from Morehead State University and worked as an accountant. She was a self-taught pianist; enjoyed spending time with her family, friends, and fur nieces; was an avid Cincinnati Bengals fan; and, enjoyed reading and taking dance lessons.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, January 16, 2023 at the Grayson Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky with Brother Mason Hockensmith and Brother Ray Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in the Eldridge Family Cemetery in Grayson, Kentucky.
Friends may visit after 1 p.m., Monday, January 16, 2023 until the service hour at Grayson Funeral Home.
