Mrs. Lorraine Layne Carpenter, age 92 of Frenchburg, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, April 14, 2022 in Frenchburg, Kentucky.
She was born Wednesday, March 19, 1930 in Carter County, Kentucky to the late Estil and Sadie Hulett Layne.
Lorraine was a member of the Olive Hill Nazarene Church for many years, she enjoyed watching westerns, going to church, going to yard sales, traveling, reading her bible and spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, Lorraine is preceded in death by her loving husband of 48 years, Joseph Eugene Carpenter; two sons, Richard Carpenter and infant Larry Carpenter; two brothers, Billy Layne and Kenneth Layne; four sisters, Betty Logan, Georgie Fraley, Virginia Carpenter and Bonnie Youd.
Lorraine is survived by three sons, Ronald (Cherri) Carpenter of Shelby, Ohio, Tim (Diana) Carpenter of Morehead, Kentucky and James Carpenter of Olive Hill, Kentucky; two daughters, Jo Ann (Wendell) Davis of Olive Hill, Kentucky and Jewell (Claude) Rice of Frenchburg, Kentucky; 15 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; three brothers, Frank Layne, Richard (Judy) Layne of Olive Hill, Kentucky and Tony (Bonnie) Layne; two sisters, Barb Bair of Olive Hill, Kentucky and Kathy Charles of Olive Hill, Kentucky, along with a host of other family members and friends who will sadly mourn her passing.
Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Thursday, April 21, 2022 at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West Highway, US-60, Olive Hill, Kentucky, 41164, with Brother Joe Foltz and Brother Andy Roach officiating. Burial will follow in the Carpenter Cemetery on Dry Branch in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 20, 2022 and after 9 a.m. until the service hour Thursday at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky.
Family and friends will serve as pallbearers.
