Jorene Lyon Griffey Wilson age 92 of Olive Hill, Kentucky passed away Saturday, April 16, 2022 at St Claire Healthcare in Morehead, Kentucky.
She was born July 29, 1929 on Clark Hill to the late Clarence (Crane) and Bessie Tackett Lyons.
Jo was a Christian for 62 years, and was baptized June 1960 at the First Christian Church. She attended Garvin Ridge Wesleyan Church for many years. She retired from Carter County School System where she worked as a cook. Jo was an avid bowler in the 1960’s winning tournaments and many trophies. Her hobbies were making handmade quilts while watching old movies and watching the Atlanta Braves.
In addition to her parents, Jo was preceded in death by her husband, Van Gordon (Red) Griffey; her youngest son, Neal Van; son in law, Keith Taylor; grandson, Barrett Taylor; stepmother, Mary Lyons; three brothers, Jack, Mac Arthur and Frankie Lyons; three sisters; Pauline Bailey, Floretta Cameron and Burnice Lyons; nephew, John Dennis Bailey; her second husband Clyde Wilson.
Jo is survived by her son and daughter in law, Jim and Jackie Griffey of La Fayette, Georgia; daughter and son in law, Linda Taylor and Robert Hay of Olive Hill, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Jason, Jenna, Kurt, Kyle, and Annie Jo; seven great grandchildren, Eliza, Parker, Sonny, Corryn, Mia, Lilith, Bowie; brother and sister in law, Jerry and Donna Lyons; four sister in laws, Helen Burton, Kay Oney, Don Rita Bond, Theresa and Jeanne Lyons.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 at Globe Funeral Chapel, 17277 West US Hwy 60, Olive Hill, Kentucky with Brother J.C.Bond officiating. Burial will follow in the Garvin Ridge Cemetery.
Friends may visit after 10:00 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2022 at Globe Funeral Chapel in Olive Hill, Kentucky until the service hour.
