Patricia Ann (McCoy) Hamilton

1943-2024

Patricia Ann (McCoy) Hamilton, age 80, passed away unexpectedly at her home in Olive Hill, KY, on April 15, 2024. She was at the side of her loving, devoted husband, Randy, who assisted her until she closed her eyes for the last time on this earth and then opened them to a glorious welcoming party in Heaven with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Patty was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on October 10, 1943, but moved to Olive Hill, Kentucky, with her family at the tender age of 2. As the youngest in her family, Patty was the apple of her father Charlie’s eye, occasionally the thorn in her mother Lillian’s side, and perhaps a bit spoiled. After graduating from Olive Hill High School, she met the love of her life, Randy Hamilton. Randy first saw Patty standing in the parking lot of the ‘HoBo’ and turned his car around – it was undoubtedly love at first sight. As they grew together and expanded their family, Patty’s love for her family was unmistakably evident. She was always encouraging her family to get together and make the most of their time, pushing them to organize gatherings and enjoy each other’s company whenever possible. Patty was the driving force behind many family activities, always eager to see everyone connected and enjoying life together.

Always proud and enthusiastic, Patty was ready to share stories of her boys’ successes and travels. She wasn’t just proud of her sons themselves but was equally proud of the families they had built. Patty often bragged about having raised some fine young men, highlighting not only their achievements but also the strong, loving families they were nurturing. Her pride was boundless, and she reveled in recounting their adventures and milestones, making sure everyone knew just how wonderful her family was.

Patty was straightforward and blunt, never sugarcoating her words. She was truly one of a kind, and she knew it, and so did the world. Her family and friends often joked that when Jesus made Patty, He tossed out the mold, just to avoid making another one quite so feisty.

To sum up Patty as a wife, mother, grandmother, friend, and sister in Christ: to know her was to love her—and occasionally to brace yourself for her honesty. Her no-nonsense approach was as legendary as her heart, making her a cherished, unforgettable figure in the lives of all who knew her.

A godly woman, Patty loved her church, Three Pine Freewill Baptist Church, and her church community. She attended faithfully, and even as her health declined, her spirit and faith only grew stronger. Patty is no doubt rejoicing in heaven, singing along with the choir from her pew and waving her hand proudly, having finished her life on earth but only just begun her eternal life with Jesus.

Patty is survived by her husband of 52 years, Randy Taylor Hamilton; her sons, Phillip G. McCoy of Paris, Kentucky, Shannon and his wife, Anna Hamilton, and Brandon T. and his wife, Emilee Hamilton, all of Olive Hill, KY; eight grandchildren, Marissa (Alex) Bellot, Megan McCoy, Montana (Nate) Stone, Madison Fields, Landon Hamilton, Greyson Jackson, Kingston Hamilton, and Graham Hamilton; and five great-grandchildren, Maddox and Cameron Bellot, Sylvie and Heidi Stone, and Brody Arvin. Patty also had a very special relationship with her niece, Debbie (Donnie) Stapleton, whom she thought the world of. She leaves behind a host of other family members and friends who will dearly miss her.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Charlie and Lillian McCoy; her brother, Jackie McCoy; and her sisters, Phyllis (Roy) Waugh and Carol Stone.
