William Arthur Gillum, age 82, of Rush, Kentucky, passed away Wednesday, February 28, 2024, at his residence, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born Saturday, January 10, 1942, in Boyd County, Kentucky, a son of the late Chester Arthur and Clarys Leslie Gillum.
William attended Kilgore Methodist Church. He enjoyed going to Star Market, telling stories, reading the paper, working crossword puzzles, eating his snacks with his Diet Coke and his Pall Mall’s and taking care of his cattle and horses.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one great grandson, Briar Franklin Kouns; three brothers, Robert Marion Gillum, Leslie Keith Gillum and Steven Thomas Gillum; two brother in laws, Ronald Thomas and Paul Thomas.
William is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Geneva June Conley Gillum; one son, Christopher Arthur (Lori) Gillum; one daughter, Jennifer Elaine Gillum Morrison all of Rush, Kentucky; five grandchildren, Tyler McKenzie (Dakota) Kouns, Sean Michael (Kileigh) Gillum, Ian Lane Gillum, Logan Chase Gillum, Wyatt Avery Gillum; four great-grandchildren, Hytton Lee Kouns, Waylon Boone Arthur Kouns, Eliza Lynn Kouns, Oliver Lee Enyart; two sisters, Joyce Thomas and Susie Thomas both of Rush, Kentucky, along with many other family and friends that will sadly miss him.
Funeral services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, March 4, 2024, at Grayson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 49 McCoy Road, Grayson, Kentucky, with Brother Kyle Burchett officiating. Burial will follow in Thomas Cemetery in Rush, Kentucky.
Friends may visit after 11:30 a.m., Monday, March 4, 2024, until the service hour at Grayson Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
Sean Gillum, Dakota Kouns, Richard Thomas, Logan Gillum, Wyatt Gillum and Evan Eldridge will serve as pallbearers.
