The East Carter Raider’s (10-3) continue to roll midway through the 2023 baseball season.
East Carter jumped out to a sizable lead and didn’t falter as the Raiders emphatically dispatched Elliott County 16-0 in three innings on Tuesday.
Game one of the two day series saw the Raiders score early and score often on their way to the blow out win.
A young Lion team was looking to earn some traction and gain experience from a well-seasoned Raider squad.
Andrew Tomolonis got an RBI double in the bottom of the first, followed by a single with a fly ball in the left center field by Blake Hall.
A double by Levi Hutchinson with a hard hit ball into the gap took the score to 7-0.
In a ho-hum first inning, the damage for the Raiders was a 15-0 deficit.
Having pulled away, the Raiders didn’t look back.
Harley Bowen picked up the ‘W” on the mound. Bowen tallied three strikeouts and threw a no-hitter over one scoreless inning of work.
Gavin Sexton and Connor Skaggs also handled one inning of pitching duties a piece.
Sexton and Skaggs allowed zero hits and combined to strike out five.
East Carter outperformed their visitors in hits to the tune of 9-0.
Tomolonis, Hall and Tate Scott paced the potent offensive attack for the Raiders.
Tomolonis went 2-for-3 with two RBIs, while scoring a pair of runs. Hall finished the contest with two hits and an RBI, while Scott had a walk, singled twice and one RBI.
The Raiders hit the road to play Fleming County in a 16th Region matchup on April 22.
