West JFL win Mike Flannery Bowl

Second and Sixth grade teams hold opponents scoreless

The West Carter Junior Football League second and sixth graders brought home wins in the Mike Flannery Bowl last week, with the second grade team defeating the Raiders youth team 22-0 to take their title, and the sixth grade boys bringing home the win with a 20-0 score against Lewis County.

In the second grade matchup Keaton Bond added 12 points to the total, with a pair of touchdowns, and Noah Gallagher added another 8 points with a touchdown and a successful two-point conversion. Silas Barker rounded out the score with his own two-point conversion.

On the sixth grade side the Comets first had to get past their cross-county rivals, defeating the Raiders team 30-0, before moving on to their championship victory over Lewis County.

Easton Kitching was selected as the offensive player of the bowl, with a total of three touchdowns during the tournament.

Rooster Jordan was honored as the defensive player of the bowl, leading his team in tackles and for tackles lost.
