My disgust with YouTube has been self-inflicted, I’ve learned to my dismay.

After too many years of wasting too much time watching too many of the trashy videos that YouTube puts on the Internet, today I am declaring meah culpa (my fault) and changing my web surfing habits.
I finally admit knowing that the nature of my previous viewing habits today was dictated by the crap I watched in the past. Rather than curse the videos each time I go there in boredom, I must admit that my morbid curiosity is not a virtue and I must put it aside.
Considering my time investment to date, I surely expect to be at least nominated for the clickbait hall of fame. I don’t recall ever deciphering how to see the second half of one of those supposed morality plays where the bad guy gets his muscle-bound butt kicked by the skinny kid with a bad complexion.
Anyone who could sit for hours and watch folks pop pimples or dig inanimate objects out of a grossly infected foot needs to find a better way to spend their time. Amazingly, those unseen medical folks can get a gallon of dirt, ear wax and an assortment of insects out of a single human ear.
The content creators who provide the obnoxious videos of tattooed bikers beating up innocent senior citizens or crippled teenagers probably should spend more time with their therapists.
As a former soldier, I want to scream each time I see an officer initiate a salute to a sergeant or some other enlisted soldier. That should only occur if the enlisted soldier (or any other military person) is wearing the Medal of Honor.
The notion that a physical training instructor could punch someone, especially a woman, without provocation, is ludicrous. And I laugh out loud when someone wearing what appears to be an Army uniform uses the term “general” to address a Navy admiral. And much of the rank insignia those terrible actors wear looks like it came straight out of a bus station vending machine.
Men and women who belong to motorcycle clubs (or gangs) are the designated bad guys in many of the videos. I chuckle when I see worried looks appear on the faces of 10 riders at the same time when the good guys arrive.
I sometimes see disclaimers that the videos are fictional and not intended to injure or offend anyone. My response to that: Bullshit!
