Horticulture Webinars are Packed with Helpful Information for All Growers

Each Wednesday, University of Kentucky Cooperative Extension agents and specialists offer a horticulture webinar to address popular topics and issues for the state’s home gardeners. This fall, the lineup is robust with plenty of room to join in from any location at 12:30 p.m. EDT.

Dates and topics:

Oct. 11 – Tree Galls, host Micael Skvarla, Penn State University entomology specialist.

Oct. 18 – Winter Tree Identification, host Rene Firth, Bernheim Arboretum.

Oct. 25 – Holiday Cactus, host Dennis Morgeson, Washington County Cooperative Extension horticulture agent.


Four seasons worth of webinars are also available to watch at any time at https://kentuckyhortnews.com/horticulture-webinar-wednesdays/. Topics have included everything from apples to zone 6 plants.


An in-person event coming up is the MarketReady Buyer Tour Oct. 12, 9 a.m.- 3 p.m. EDT at the Kentucky Farm Bureau Insurance Office, 9201 Bunsen Pkwy, Louisville, KY 40220. Participants will visit three to four buyers in the Louisville area. The even is free, but you must RSVP. For more information, visit https://tinyurl.com/buyertour.

Upcoming Events:

  • The Grayson Farmer’s Market is open on Saturdays from 9:00 AM until sell out. The market is located in the shed behind the Extension Office. The Olive Hill Farmer’s Market is located in the Save-a-Lot parking lot and is open on Saturdays and Wednesdays at 8:00 AM and Mondays at 3:00 PM until sell out each day.
