Grayson Gallery & Art Center
The Grayson Gallery & Art Center, Inc. (GGAC) will wrap up its summer programming with the monthly Final Friday event, a free opening reception for artists and the public on August 28, from 6 – 9 pm. This art exhibit will feature the works of two individual, award-winning and unique photographers: Laura Maul and Amy Rice. More than 60 pieces by the artists will be on display along with various photo prints. Works will also be available for purchase at affordable prices.
The GGAC is proud to announce that this show was made possible due to a referral from the Anglin Family (the Doug Anglin Memorial Student Art Program; Leslie & Julie Anglin) to the Kentucky Arts Council. Funds were granted by the KAC via a new Kentucky Arts Rising (KAR) grant, a program created to support small, community-based arts and cultural organizations that provide year-round arts programming for Kentuckians. This also funded operational support to the GGAC, a 501c3 nonprofit organization, to help strengthen and sustain grassroots arts organizations with limited operating budgets.
Laura Moul, a PPA Certified and Master Photographer, hails from Milton, WV and has been creating photographic and scenic images since 1991.She is also a Tamarack artist, whose work has been juried into galleries and art exhibits all across the Tri-State area. The portfolio of her work includes publications, calendars, and tourist brochures as well as selected participation in showing at galleries, solo and group exhibits. Amy Rice, a self-taught photographer, nature lover and visual artist is based in Russell, KY counts wildlife photography as her first passion and she also enjoys capturing the beauty of nature, landscapes and architecture through her lens. The camera, she feels, is a good excuse to spend more time outdoors and appreciating the world around us. Having received various awards, including the People’s Choice award from the Inspired Opportunities arts organization as well as earning awards at the Grayson Gallery & Art Center, these recognitions encourage Hall to grow as an artist and share her work with others. An active member of the Ashland Kentucky Area Artists group, she’s able to travel the Tri-State setting up at different art venues. According to Hall, her hope is that as visitors to the exhibit take a look around, they’ll be inspired to pause, observe and discover the beauty that exists in everyday surroundings. Live Music by the band “Blue Sky”, featuring musicians Michael Allen – guitar/vocals; Tom Berry – drums/vocals, Corbin Fitzpatrick – Guitar/vocals and Brent Jack – bass guitar/vocals. The band is a classic rock group that plays a wide range of music from the 1960s to today’s tunes, and they perform all across the Tri-State area. Coming up at the GGAC in September will be “Reflections in Color”, the works of Michelle Ward Ciancio with a live performance by Corduroy Brown. October will bring back another crowd favorite, the Grayson Gallery’s annual Halloween Art Show & Costume party, part of Explore Grayson’s Octoberfest event through October 31st.
