Kiwanis welcome new members and board

Prichard B.U.G. Club to begin in new year

The Carter County Kiwanis met last month to welcome new members and board members, and discuss plans for the coming year.

President Stephanie Kidd and Vice President Willis Johnson welcomed new board members including IKORCC senior representative Jerry Yates, sports park manager Grant Harper, and Carter County Times editor Jeremy Wells.

Members discussed the emotional impact of participating in the build-a-bed program, and plants to participate in the next build event as well as fundraising events for the purchase of mattresses.

Prichard Elementary will be the first school in the system to participate in the Kiwanis B.U.G. (Bringing Up Grades) Club. That program will start in January and be awarded in the next nine week period to follow.

The club also discussed their plans for a “rubber duck race” and other fundraising opportunities and events.

“There are lots of great things going on in Carter County,” Kidd said.
