The Olive Hill Center for Arts & Education held a free, community concert featuring bluegrass music from Hammertowne and country tunes from Corey Hedge. Hammertowne (David Carroll, guitar – Scott Tackett, guitar – Chaston Carroll, mandolin – Bryan Russell, bass – Dale Thomas, banjo) closed the night with hard driving traditional bluegrass while the American Idol golden ticket recipient played a mix of songs, including original tunes, to begin the evening.
Music and songwriting classes featured prominently among a series of workshops offered at the OHCAE through grants made available from South Arts and the Kentucky Arts Council. Ceramics and pottery, quilt blocks, and canned goods produced through the Trail Town Arts Project classes funded by the grant were also on display and – in the case of the very popular canning class – available for tasting.
