Carter County TimesThe Carter County School Board only had one discussion item on their agenda when they convened in special session last week – the resignation of a board member. Board members Lisa Easterling, Rachel Fankell, Patrick Ferry, and Kirk Wilburn voted unanimously to accept the resignation of veteran school board member Bryan Greenhill.
The school board will choose Greenhill’s replacement to serve until the next election. Greenhill’s district, District 2, will run for election again in 2022 and then every four years after.
The school district will advertise for volunteers to fill the position in newspapers and local media for two weeks. After the end of the advertisement period the school board will then have a 60- day period to make their decision. They must choose a candidate by the end of the 60 days.
Greenhill was not present at the meeting and the board gave no reason for his resignation.
The board thanked Greenhill for his years of service on the school board, and discussed plans to present him with a plaque in recognition of that service.
The board then entered executive session before adjourning for the evening.
