GRAYSON, Ky. — Kentucky Christian University has announced a renewed strategic direction designed to reaffirm the University’s historic mission while positioning the institution for future growth, expanded access, and continued faithfulness to its Christ-centered identity.
The strategic direction, featured in the latest issue of VOICE Magazine, begins with a reaffirmation of KCU’s mission:
Kentucky Christian University’s mission is to glorify God by providing a Christ-centered, biblically grounded education that prepares servant leaders for the Church and society.
University leaders describe the updated mission as more than a revision of wording. It reflects a renewed commitment to the purpose that has guided KCU for more than a century: preparing men and women to serve with purpose, lead with conviction, and live out their faith in the Church and society.
“Every strategic plan reflects a series of intentional choices,” said Dr. John Dundon, Chief Financial Officer of Kentucky Christian University. “Before determining where we are going, KCU has chosen to reaffirm who we are.”
The strategic direction also introduces a refined expression of the University’s core values. For many years, KCU was guided by the values of Christ, Character, and Career. Moving forward, those enduring commitments will be expressed as:
Christ First. Character Formed. Calling Fulfilled.
The revised values reflect the University’s conviction that careers are important, but they are ultimately expressions of a deeper calling. KCU seeks to prepare graduates not merely for employment, but for lives of faithful service in ministry, business, education, healthcare, and other areas where God may lead them.
The strategic plan identifies five key areas of focus for KCU’s future.
The first is a mission-fit enrollment strategy focused on recruiting and retaining students who are aligned with KCU’s Christ-centered mission and prepared to thrive academically and spiritually.
The second is expanded access through a centralized online education model. Through new and growing online programs, KCU plans to serve students beyond its physical campus while maintaining the same biblically grounded mission that has defined the University for generations.
The third area of focus is flexible pricing and greater program access. The University will explore tuition and financial aid strategies designed to support affordability for students while maintaining long-term institutional sustainability.
The fourth priority is strengthening the alignment of campus culture and identity. KCU will continue working to ensure academics, athletics, and student life together reflect the University’s Christ-centered values and desired student outcomes.
The fifth area is strategic collaboration and shared stewardship. KCU will seek mission-aligned opportunities with other institutions rooted in the Restoration Movement to expand capacity, strengthen ministry, and wisely steward resources.
As higher education continues to change, Kentucky Christian University’s strategic direction emphasizes adaptation without abandoning foundational principle “For KCU, our path forward is rooted in knowing exactly who we are and why we exist,” said Dr. Terry Allcorn, President of Kentucky Christian University.
Kentucky Christian University’s renewed direction is summarized in three defining commitments:
Christ. Character. Calling.
